What is a vortex tube?
The vortex tube is an innovative pneumatic device that uses only compressed air to simultaneously generate a cold air stream and a hot air stream.
With no moving parts and no chemical refrigerants, it provides a reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution for localized cooling.

How vortex tubes work
Compressed air is injected tangentially into a cylindrical chamber, creating a high-speed swirling motion. This phenomenon, known as the vortex effect, separates the air into two distinct streams :
Hot air stream : expelled through one end of the tube.
Cold air stream : directed toward the other end.
A control valve allows the adjustment of the proportion of hot air being vented, enabling precise control over the temperature and flow rates of the output streams.

Frequently Asked Questions :
A vortex tube uses compressed air to generate both a cold air stream and a hot air stream, without any moving parts or fluids.
This process enables instant cooling, making it ideal for industrial environments.
Learn more about vortex technology
Depending on compressed air pressure and flow rate, a vortex tube can reach temperatures as low as -40 to -45°C. In real operating conditions, performance depends on:
-the compressed air supply network
-the surrounding environment
-the selected model
The selection depends on several criteria:
available airflow
desired temperature
application (electrical enclosures, machining, sensors, etc.)
Poor selection can lead to:
excessive air consumption
inefficient cooling
